Fellow Networker,

If you are having problems building a large team (getting new reps to join you) and creating a residual income, then PAY CLOSE ATTENTION!

network marketerThe problems you have experienced are simply a result of not using the power of positioning to help people see you as the solution to their problem. The reason you are not dominating your market is not because there is something wrong with you, or with your company, or with your products and services.

You are just not using the proper positioning strategy to get people coming to you, asking for help with your products and services.

You see, one of the first key things to understand is that network marketing is a people-based business. It starts and ends with relationships.

internet marketing teamThat is one thing that most networkers understand – but the application that is taught by most uplines is all wrong.

People are taught to try and get their friends and family to “do them a favor”. They are taught to be secretive and elusive, to try and get their prospects on 3-way calls with the upline experts. They are taught to hand out free product samples, host home meetings and parties, and throw flyers on every car they see.

The average distributor is taught to say as little as possible, and just try to get their list of “warm contacts” to the local meeting or the party where the real expert (the upline guru) will present about the company and opportunity.

And that’s a BIG problem.

Think about it – if you try to do that with your potential business partners, what does that make YOU look like?

A leader?

Someone worth following?

Hardly.

That type of system positions you as a monkey – a gopher for someone else’s business. And remember – people don’t join businesses, they join OTHER PEOPLE.

And if you have positioned yourself as a tool for someone else’s business, then you now have positioning working AGAINST you.

Ever tried to throw a home party and have nobody show up?

Or spend a lot of time getting your product display all set up, laid out perfectly, and spend the money to get refreshments and appetizers laid out, only to have one or two people actually attend?

And they only buy a product because they feel sorry for you?

home party

That’s just embarrassing! Not only is it disappointing for you, but it’s a huge waste of time and money.

The thing is, people lead busy lives these days, and they don’t have time to drive all over town to attend a party unless it’s the weekend. And most people are busy enough that they don’t want to spend their weekends in your living room getting pitched on your product and opportunity.

Again, this worked fantastically back in the “good old days”, during the 1960’s and 1970’s.

However, times have changed, and the “party plan” is really a “sorry plan” for consistently recruiting new clients and business builders into your organization.

Sure, big companies like Amway, Tupperware, Avon, Pampered Chef and Mary Kay teach this strategy and for years their representatives have used home parties to build large, lucrative companies.

But this is an old and outdated way of building a business. The fact is, these types of “warm market” tactics have been taught in the direct sales industry for over 50 years. The problem, is that they stopped working about 45 years ago! LOL! Don’t feel too bad. I have been there myself. From day one in my business, I wanted to be a “Heavy Hitter”, one of the guys that get to walk across the stage at the events. But when people consistently don’t show up to your Home Parties And Home Meetings not only will you feel rejected but you will begin to doubt your self and may even feel you have been SCAMMED, ultimately you will probably quit.

So much for making a lot of money and walking across that stage, huh?

Truth is…

You Don’t Have To Use Those “Used-Car Salesman” Techniques Your Company Has Shown You To Grow Your Business

Learning how to MARKET is the key. You have to market to your target audience. Unless you know how to attract dozens of new distributors each week into your downline, you are going to have a very tough time building a huge organization and getting those big residual pay checks.

I’ve struggled in this industry for years. But when I began to do some research on the network marketing industry what I found shocked me. The Big Guru’s build relationships over time with other like minded people and use Lead Marketing Tools to attract people that are already looking for your business opportunity.

Chances are if you have been around in the network marketing or direct sales industry awhile then you have been asked this question…

quote

Is this a Pyramid Scheme or one of those illegal Pyramid things?”

People have heard this for years and don’t even understand the true meaning of a pyramid structure. Some have called the pyramids of Egypt the strongest structures known to man. pyramidsOk, I am being sarcastic.

Actually I am referring to a common objection uneducated people make about direct sales and the network marketing industry.

Most people do NOT understand the differences between a Ponzi Scheme, a Pyramid Scheme and a Legitimate Direct Sales company like Amway that use the network marketing business model.

First check out this video.

[VIDEO]- PYRAMID SCHEME CARTOON

Let me be very clear in what the difference is between a company with a hierarchy and a pyramid scheme. In the first, the number of people employed depend on the amount of money available to pay them.

If one has studied (business) organizational management, the people at the bottom of any organization in the workforce are the least paid.

Pyramid-Scheme

Think about it!

Now according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC),

quoteAn illegal pyramid is when distributors are signing people up and not exchanging a valuable product or service.”

The compensation structure of a network marketing company does not mean it is illegal.

More Pyramid Scheme Info

Here is a very good article by Tim Sales that gives The First Historical Example Of A Pyramid Scheme…

After you read it you may still ask, Is Network Marketing a Scam Like a Ponzi Scheme? Well if you read this article by Tim Sales it will also open your eyes.

need-more-repsFinally, I leave you with what the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Frequently Asked Questions about Ponzi and Pyramid Schemes. They have a chart that even shows the differences.

Now you should definitely know and understand the fundamental differences between a legitimate network marketing business and a Ponzi scheme and Pyramid scheme.

Since you now know it is legal, is there any other reason that would prevent you from starting your own business today in network marketing or the direct sales industry?

I hope you have this article has been beneficial to you. If so please share it and leave some comments below.

However, network marketing is a legitimate business model.

There are a lot of questions people that are interested in joining direct sales, network marketing, affiliate marketing or internet marketing company ask me.

However, in today’s blog post I want to focus on two common misunderstandings or questions about network marketing:

1. Are people at the top making the most money?

2. Do the people who get in at the beginning make most or all of the money?

These questions are often asked by individuals that are concerned about joining an established network marketing company or joining under a large team where people are already making significant amounts of money.

magnetic-sponsoring-free-leads-bannerPeople develop slanted perceptions because of their lack of knowledge about the industry.

Anyway, I believe the questions above are best answered by Tim Sales.Tim Sales

Tim Sales is a former military veteran (like me) turned professional marketer.

He is network marketing (MLM) guru, expert, and one of the most respected MLM trainers in the Direct Selling Industry.

I wanted to write this blog post to help people that are new to direct sales and the network, affiliate or internet marketing industry.

Let’s say you just joined your first network marketing company and you have not heard from your sponsor!

*sound of crickets*

24 hours later still nothing

x No Welcome Email
x No Phone Call
x Nada

Your Sponsor Sucks, But Why?

Let’s take a closer look

Your sponsor makes $30,000 a month and has a team in the thousands. You are attracted to the big numbers, the promise of great training, the capture pages, and the flashy YouTube videos of this savvy marketer.

Mistake Numero Uno (Number One)

Without realizing your sponsor sucks, you make a decision to join directly under this powerful industry leader and heavy hitter.

Wait a minute, exactly how much attention do you think he or she will personally give you, Mr. Newbie?

If you expect to receive a lot of help from your sponsor directly you are fooling yourself.

Read more here on what to expect when you join

Your sponsor’s direct and personal help is reserved for the committed—Individuals on the team that have already proven themselves to be future leaders by taking action and building their business on a daily basis. The results: their individual teams are growing exponentially and their bank accounts are getting fatter.

Time Out!

In this scenario it really comes down to time management.

time-management-clockYour sponsor sucks probably because most company leaders do not have TIME to answer your mundane questions about the company, the products, etc etc.

Unfortunately this is what a lot of Newbies do in the beginning, ask a lot of questions. Nothing wrong with that but believe it or not, most of your questions are all the things you can easily look up on your own. But guess what, you did not take the…TIME!

You see in this case your sponsor sucks because he or she values their time.

And you Mr. Newbie still have to learn that everyone’s time is valuable (including Yours)so don’t waste it!

What happens now? What do I do?

your sponsor sucks

If you are committed to your business and changing your financial situation then,

-Don’t quit
-Don’t complain
-Don’t get discouraged
-Drive On

Your sponsor does not determine whether you fail or not in the business, YOU determine that! Prove to everyone that YOU can do it.

Repeat After Me

I can and will SUCCEED with or WITHOUT my Sponsor!

Even in this scenario there is still hope. Your sponsor sucks but you can still take advantage of the team training that your sponsor probably has already provided. Nothing will build up your skill sets other than MLM trainings from leaders.

checkmarkAttend the training Webinars even if your sponsor sucks
checkmarkAttend team Events even if your sponsor sucks
checkmarkReach out to and make Friends with other Team Members (Experienced and Inexperienced) even if your sponsor sucks. Create a team of contacts and friends from other company teams.

NOTE: Don’t forget the training and marketing material your network marketing company has also provided. Plug in to all of your network marketing company’s functions, calls, events, meetings, conferences and conventions.Through your own personal development you will grow and overtime your business/marketing skills will increase.

I was talking to one of my team members the other day and I asked her,

quoteCan you manage your organization with 100 members or leaders now?”

She said, NO Way! And I said,

quoteExactly and that is part of the personal development you need to go through to reach that stage.”

Your Sponsor Sucks, But It’s Ok!

I hope this post sheds a little light on why you might be struggling or frustrated right now, especially if you are depending on your sponsor.

To Your Continued Success!
