Find a Young Living distributor near you or online or go directly to the company website and create a new account.

Joining Young Living as a distributor requires the purchase of a “Starter Kit”, which range in price from $45 (Basic) to $160 (Premium) (+tax and shipping).

After enrolling you will receive a Starter Kit that includes: A Product Guide and Product Price List, , Sample Packets, Sample Business Cards, Sample Oil Bottles, Essential Edge, Stress Away™ 5-ml, and the AromaGlide™ Roller Fitment (Basic Kit).

How to promote the products

Young Living encourages promotion of their essential oil product line through person to person contact and hosting home parties.

Most distributors are engaging their warm market (friends, family members co-workers, etc) and trying to persuade them to become their customer or join the company to become a Young Living distributor.

The top earners who are making money in Young Living are great at marketing, both offline and online.

They know how to generate traffic and leads, and then convert those leads into sales, and they know how to recruit the best people into their business.

Not having a good lead marketing system is why most Young Living distributors will fail; because they follow the masses and get the same old results.

How to make money with this opportunity

You need to understand that if you are new to the direct sales and network marketing industry that your success will come from your ability to get new prospects or generate continuous leads in order to make sales.

You will also need to recruit others and build a large team.

Even experienced network marketers might work hard to build large teams and still not produce the life changing income stream they desire.

You can make some money with this opportunity but it may be difficult for a newbie (new to marketing or sales) to make monthly quotas and generate a residual income stream.

The Young Living Compensation Plan

The Young Living compensation plan is a unilevel with compression. In order to receive compensation, a distributor must be considered active.

Distributors who fail to accrue 50 PV (Personal Volume) in a calendar month are considered inactive for the month and will not qualify to receive certain payouts from their sales organization.

What is a unilevel plan with compression mean?

This means that you can only recruit people front-line to you. The more people you personally sponsor, the wider your organization grows.

You also earn a percentage through a certain number of levels of distributors within your organization. The higher the rank you achieve, the more levels from which you can earn commissions.

Example: If a company decides to pay $0.50 of every dollar earned to distributors, it will not stop at a fixed depth level. This means that if distributors, who are too deep in the plan for you to get payment on normally, are inactive (do not qualify for a commission payment), then the remaining commission will flow up levels in the plan to the next qualified person and the complete $0.50 will be paid out.

The Young Living compensation plan pays down to five (5) levels deep. You have the ability to earn on more depth in your organization as you advance through the ranks and build a large enough team.

Distributors earn 8% on the sales volume, or PV, of each distributor on the first level within their organization, 5% on the second level, and 4% on the third through fifth levels.

The company pays commissions to distributors each month based on the volume of their loyal customers, and their distributors, and their distributors recruits (downline), and their loyal customers!

You must be qualified (maintain a monthly order of at least 100 PV as a distributor to be eligible to receive unilevel (downline) commissions and be considered “active,” with a monthly order of at least 50 PV to qualify for retail earnings and enroller-based bonuses with the Young Living Compensation Plan.

Only pays 5 levels deep until you qualify for the generation commissions.

THE SAD TRUTH

Ok, so, I’m going to be pretty open and blunt here.

I’m assuming that we haven’t personally met yet and that I haven’t gotten to know you.

If you expect to sign up and instantly start to make money without investing some of your time and money into your personal development in order to acquire the skills necessary to be successful let me be the first to tell you … YOU WILL FAIL!!!

Your success as a Distributor will ultimately be determined by how many people you can attract to you and your team.

5LINX Co-Founders Charged With Fraud By Federal Prosecutors

Arrest warrants were issued on Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 for 5LINX co-founders Jason Guck and Jeb Tyler and former 5LINX CEO, Craig Jerabeck, in conjunction with a criminal complaint filed by the Department of Justice earlier this week.

The complaint alleges the three men…

knowingly devise(d) a scheme and artifice to defraud and to obtain money by means of false and fraudulent pretenses, representations and promises.

The defendants engaged in multiple schemes to defraud investors by diverting company money away from 5LINX and hiding it in accounts controlled by and for the benefits of the defendants.

Beginning in approximately 2009 and continuing until at least May 2015, without the knowledge, permission, or authorization of the investors, the defendants created, and inserted fraudulent contracted representatives into the 5LINX direct sales team in order to make additional income in excess of their compensation plan.

For the purpose of executing the scheme and artifice, the defendants set up fraudulent 5LINX independent contractor accounts under multiple company names which were actually controlled by the defendants individually or together.

These shell companies were utilized in order to conceal the real owner’s information from employees and the investors.”

5LINX Co-Founders Charged With Wire Fraud and Conspiracy

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the three men were charged with wire fraud and conspiracy, and illegally diverting more than $4 million of company money into their own pockets.

In an affidavit, FBI Special Agent Kristin Gibson said, the amount of looted money could be as much as $11 million!

If convicted, Jason Guck, Jeb Tyler and Craig Jerabeck face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

It’s important to remember that these men have only been charged and have NOT been found guilty yet.

Having said that, I am really disturbed by the allegations listed in this criminal complaint.

This is another serious blow to the Network Marketing industry and a primary example of why many people believe multi-level marketing is a scam!

My Message To 5LINX Representatives

Dear 5LINX Representative,

I have never been a 5LINX representative or customer but I do have friends who are so I know you are probably very disappointed right now.

However, I sincerely hope that this unfortunate news does not discourage you from building your business in the network marketing industry.

For some of you 5LINX representatives this may be your very first network marketing company and you might being feeling like you were duped!

Well keep your head up, the network marketing business model is sound.

These types of things happen from time to time…some companies recover, some don’t…but keep pressing forward until YOU achieve the goal you have set for yourself in this industry!

5LINX has a public message to their representatives about the incident posted on their website.

Final thoughts on the 5LINX Co-Founders charged with fraud

Obviously this type of news will have a major impact on the company, more importantly on 5LINX representatives that are working hard to make sales or sponsor new representatives into their team.

If you are a 5LINX representative you may be wondering whether you should leave the company or not.

In my opinion I think its still a little too early to say…

A great way to monitor where a company stands in the market place is website traffic (visitors). The 5LINX website has been steadily declining in traffic since November 2016.

So continue to watch the company’s traffic stats. If it continues to decline then you may need to pack your bags and head for the nearest lifeboat.

Another thing you can do is keep your eye on what the top 5LINX leaders do. If the majority of them announce their departure or silently jump ship then that is not a good sign.

Could this potentially be the beginning of the end for 5LINX?

Possibly….but we’ll just have to wait and see!

Are You Building Relationships Or Burning Bridges With Prospects?

It doesn’t matter whether you are building your home business online or offline if you are not building relationships with your prospects your business will eventually suffer in the end.

Remember the old axiom,

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know”

Well this is true but just a little misleading, because it only focuses on making contacts.

But if you want to be successful with your home or small business then you need to focus on more than just having a list of people in your phone or a contacts file on your computer.

In this post I will address why you should be focused on building relationships, especially if you are involved with direct sales or the network marketing industry.

Building Relationships

Do you want to grow your business into a 4, 5, 6 or even 7-figures a month empire?

Then you need to focus on building and maintaining relationships with your prospects and your current customers.

If you get this right you will always have enough prospects looking at what you have to offer and eventually these same prospects will convert into paying customers.

Building relationships with your prospects

In the short term your goal should be focused on building relationships in order to give your prospects time to get to know, like and trust you.

Let me ask you a question….have you ever went out on a date?

What do you think the chances are for a woman to say “YES” to a guy that ask her to marry him on their very first date?

SLIM to NONE, right?

As a matter of fact there’s a good chance she would be spooked and avoid ever going out with that guy again!

My point is building a strong relationship is not something that happens over night.

It takes time to build relationships with your prospects, the same way it takes time to fall in love and eventually marry someone you care about.

TIP: Want to know a great place to start building relationships? Try attending live training or networking events

It’s a process.

And it starts with understanding exactly who is your idea prospect and identifying what problems or issues or needs they have.

You must take time to really get to know your prospect just like you would for someone you would date. Find out what they like or dislike…what are their favorite books, tv shows, movies, cars, restaurants, etc etc.

Once you know a prospect then work on getting them to like you by adding value to their lives.

You can add value by taking time to understand their problems, concerns, issues or needs and educating them or providing other things that will benefit them. Soon they will begin to appreciate you and actually look forward to hearing from you or seeing you.

You can get a prospect to trust you by helping them solve their problem(s). When you know your prospects problem(s) simply recommend your product or service as a solution, if applicable.

Here’s the bottom line. People need to know, like and trust your before they will buy from you or even want to partner with you (join your team).

…but once your prospects knows, likes and trust you then chances are they will BUY from you or JOIN your business opportunity if you are into network marketing.

So whats the #1 reason to build relationships? -> To turn your prospects into customers or business partners.

Maintaining relationships with your customers

After converting a prospect into a customer or business partner, maintaining that relationship is the area that business owners and marketers often neglect.

This is a big mistake!

Most of your business will come from repeat customers… not new customers.

TIP: It is easier to keep and sell to a current customer than it is to find a new prospect!

Maintaining relationships with your customers is essential to the long term success of your business.

Have you ever heard the expression,

Happy wife ~ Happy Life!”

It really means, “Keep her happy or else suffer the consequences…lol!”

Remember my dating example above?

Well let’s take the scenario one step further. Now married, how does the guy (husband) stay happily married to his new wife?

He must continue to give her the attention to to keep her happy… otherwise he may risk losing her later on.

The same applies for us business owners with a customer base. We must keep our current customer base happy because if we neglect them they will lose interest in us and maybe even find someone else to buy from.

I keep my customers happy by emailing them helpful prospecting tips or sharing the latest and greatest marketing strategies.

By continuing to engage with my loyal customers I retain them as customers and they continue to buy from me.

So whats the #1 reason to maintain relationships? -> To keep your customers or business partners.

Burning Bridges

Unfortunately, I see way too many network marketers burning bridges with their prospects instead of building relationships.

Burning bridges occurs when you place making the sale or earning a commission a priority over building a relationship with your prospect.

The first goal when meeting someone new should not be to pitch your service or your product to them.

But people do this ALL the time, especially network marketers.

Don’t believe me? Just look at how people pitch their business opportunity or products on Facebook or other on social media sites.

I can’t tell you the countless number of times I have accepted friend requests on Facebook from people I don’t know and 5 seconds after I accept their request I get a copy and paste message from them pitching me their business opportunity or product.

These marketers are actually burning bridges with potential business partners, team members, and customers!

And you could be burning bridges based on how you respond to their sales pitch!

For example I use to politely tell them my plate is full or I am happy with what I am currently doing…guess what…I would never hear from them again!

Not only did they burn a bridge by pitching me but I burned a bridge too because I could have reached out to them or responded in a different way.

So how do you handle the sales pitch so that your are not burning bridges but instead building relationships?

Try getting to know that other marketer by asking them questions. Start by trying to find some common ground…what other things do you both have in common?

TIP: Check out their Facebook profile and see what interests you may already have in common then talk about them!

After you know more about them then you can slowly transition to questions regarding their business opportunity….ask them how long they have been with their company, how do they like their products or why did they get involved in network marketing.

Once you identify their problem (in this case…bad marketing strategy), offer some value (some helpful marketing tips or strategies that would reduce rejection) and recommend a solution (product or service you sell, if applicable)

It may not always work for everyone but keeping a line of communication open to build a relationship is much better than burning bridges don’t you think?
