Who is Arthur Boorman?

arthur boormanArthur Boorman was a disabled veteran of the Gulf War for 15 years, and was told by his doctors that he would never be able to walk on his own, ever again.

He stumbled upon an article about Diamond Dallas Page doing Yoga and decided to give it a try — he couldn’t do traditional, higher impact exercise, so he tried DDP YOGA and sent an email to Dallas telling him his story.

Dallas was so moved by his story, he began emailing and speaking on the phone with Arthur throughout his journey – he encouraged Arthur to keep going and to believe that anything was possible. Even though doctors told him walking would never happen, Arthur was persistent. He fell many times, but kept going.

quoteI took control. I stopped thinking of myself as a victim of my injuries. I stopped thinking of these as permanent conditions. I started thinking of how to fix things. I started working the program every day. I fell down many times. Hard. I got back up every time, more determined than ever to make this work. To tell the truth, there were a few days when I was tired, or sore, but I listened to DDP’s CD for encouragement.” Arthur Boorman

Artist Name: Javier Colon
Song: Fix You

Arthur was getting stronger rapidly, and he was losing weight at an incredible rate! Because of DDP’s specialized workout, he gained tremendous balance and flexibility — which gave him hope that maybe someday, he’d be able to walk again.

quoteI put up with disbelieving friends and co-workers. I heard the negativity, and I ignored it. They started thinking differently when they saw the pounds begin to drop off and when they saw me moving better, with less pain and greater endurance and mobility. Now some of those same people ask me about DDP YOGA.” Arthur Boorman

His story is proof, that we cannot place limits on what we are capable of doing, because we often do not know our own potential. Neither Arthur, nor Dallas knew what he would go on to accomplish, but this video speaks for itself.

In less than a year, Arthur Boorman completely transformed his life. If only he had known what he was capable of, 15 years earlier.

I know that all of you were saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our most hardworking members — Someone Else.

Obituary of someone else

Someone Else’s passing created a vacancy that will be difficult to fill.  Else has been with us for many years, and for every one of those years the level of his caring and commitment was highly evident.

Someone else did far more than the normal person’s share of the work.

Whenever leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for inspiration as well as results.

Someone Else can work with that group.

Whenever there was a job to do, a class to teach, an extra effort to be made, or a meeting to attend, one name was on everyone’s lips, “Let Someone Else do it.” It was common knowledge that Someone Else was the hardest worker in our organization.

Whenever there was a financial need, everyone just assumed that Someone Else would make up the difference.

Someone Else was the largest giver in our organization.

Someone Else was a wonderful person, sometimes appearing super-human, but a person can only do so much.  Were the truth known, everyone expected too much of Someone Else.

Now Someone Else is gone.  What will happen now? What are we going to do?  Someone Else left a wonderful example to follow, but who is going to follow it?  Who is going to do the things Someone Else did?

Our organization can’t depend on Someone Else anymore to initiate projects, come up with ideas, help with events and enhance our motivation to achieve….It is up to YOU!
